The Church Mission Society began more than 200 years ago with a group of Christians whose hearts were stirred to go to the edges. The Society was founded on 12 April 1799. The group included people like William Wilberforce, and John Newton. Together, they worked to abolish the slave trade, they fought for the rights of oppressed people at home and they launched out onto dangerous seas to share Jesus with the world.
Through the work of CMS thousands of people have crossed geographical, cultural and societal boundaries to make disciples of Jesus. Through their efforts, missteps and all, the gospel of Jesus has been spread all over the world.
At St Margaret's we support the mission of the Peart family in Bolivia. We offer this support through prayer and financial giving.

Share the gospel message by serving the local community and wider church in one of the fastest growing cities in South America, Santa Cruz. As well as being Bolivia’s financial centre, its rapid change has resulted in significant socio-economic challenges such as reducing educational opportunities, healthcare shortages, social instability, infrastructure issues, worsening sanitation and increasing corruption.
The church that they are connected to, Cristo Luz del Mundo (meaning “Christ the Light of the World”), is located within the heart of the financial and residential centre.
